RJ & I met AJ & Nick in Bristol Tenn. for Thanksgiving. Of course fishing was just a small part of the trip.
Nick exhibits a large brown. We fished below the South Holston Reservoir.
This was the smallest fish that Nick hooked. We fished when power generation ceased - most often between midnight and 5 a.m.
Another large brown. The fish were on a spawning run from a reservoir further downstream.
Most of the fish caught were similar to this. I didn't fare as well as Nick, which is to be expected.
We used egg patterns, fishing two flies with a very small split shot. The water averaged about 2 foot of depth.
This was the moster of the trip, a 32" brown that had an 18" girth. Nick proved expert at landing the fish after it took him 100 yrds. downstream.

This is the river as it drops after power generation. Where Nick is standing is where the following picture is taken.

The last fish of the trip caught on Saturday. It was one of the few fish caught in this section (about 50 fishermen) due to an extremely bright sky.
Other fishermen on a Satureday fishing the S. Holston. I saw a first on this week, a guy flyfishing while sitting on a 5 gal. bucket.

Well, I may not be much of a fisherman, but I can still carve a turkey. See the Fishing Reports for the story.
And we did enjoy a real Thanksgiving dinner at the cabin. Thanks girls!

This is an underwater picture of a South Holston Brown taken by Nick. The fish was trapped during the river drop and returned to the main stream.

Sag. Twp. friend Jerry Mousseau caught this monster 26" brown in August on the U.P.'s Ontonagon River. Jerry is a retired teacher & avid fisherman.

Dad found a couple of pictures - probably taken around 1980 or so. Mike liked his BBQ sauce even then, eh?
Who is this guy with the stash?
Steve and Dave on the stream. Many pounds lighter than today.
